Energy Efficint Housing - Designing and Building a Passive Solar Home
Right as the second semester begins, the STEM classes are faced with two problems: building a reflector for the north-facing window of the STEM Solar Studio, and building cold frames for the plants in the San Marin Garden. We need the reflector because the orientation of the north-facing window renders it impotent in gaining heat and light for the building. The cold frames are necessary for helping to retain heat for the plants in the garden during the winter. As we are attempting to complete this task, there are many other side-projects that will be used to help us learn more about thermodynamics as well as alternate energy sources.
